The goal
The Gerstl family, who successfully runs the Gerstl Alpine Retreat, had a vision to open a second hotel: the Gerstl Family Retreat. From the outset, it was clear that this should not simply be another hotel, but a place that creates intergenerational, nature-loving holiday experiences. The vision: to make the values of the host family visible and to position the business for the future without losing its personal touch.
Employer branding was a key objective: the company’s values were to be communicated externally and lived internally. Internal and external communication, a clearly defined set of values and long-term employee retention formed the basis of this vision.
The project was developed thoroughly, from the initial strategic considerations to ongoing support from hotel coach Stephanie Ganterer in process optimisation and employee development at the owner-managed family business. The professional positioning of the hotel and seamless expansion were top priorities.
The task
Based on the strengths of the parent company Das Gerstl Alpine Retreat – alpine holiday experience, family management and authentic hospitality – a positioning was developed for Das Gerstl Family Retreat that combines and focuses on authenticity, family life and nature experiences. To implement this vision, under the guidance of hotel coach Stephanie Ganterer, both businesses were strategically aligned, organisational structures were optimised and a stable management level was established. Processes were revised, an HR and sales office was introduced and internal and external communication was bundled into a clear concept. At the same time, both establishments underwent a logo restyling that visually unites their shared philosophy while still leaving room for individual brand identity.
We support the Gerstl family in all marketing matters – from the use of our hospitality apps such as Korrespondenzmanager, Rate Checker, Last-minute booking exchange, newsletter system und Voucher App, to tailor-made marketing plans, creative newsletters, consulting and hotel coaching. The result is a harmonious interplay of brand strategy, organisational development and modern communication that sustainably strengthens the family business.
The Gerstl Family Retreat was successfully opened in May 2025.
